Simon Ateba punctuates on the FFK saga and other tribal intriques

For some days now, Igbo people in Nigeria have been furious. Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Nigerian minister of aviation and presidential spokesperson bombed them with hateful and brain damaging words. Igbo people blasted him back with paraplegic and diplegic words. Kayode, a Cambridge educated Yoruba man, alleged in an opinion article that Igbo people are only guests in Lagos and their attitude of wanting to "grab everything" and flush all other people out is putting them in trouble in all parts of Nigeria. Igbo people erupted in anger and lambasted Kayode with social media weapons. The blast could be heard from Facebook to Twitter and every blackberry and ipad in-between. They described him as an irrelevant former failed minister of aviation who's seeking to get back into favour after years in darkness, limbo and gradual poverty. The war of words is yet to abate and is even escalating. Here is my opinion: Whether you're reading me in San Francisco or Beijing, the trut…

S-African women married to Nigerians threaten protest

South African women married to Nigerians, yesterday, threatened to stage mass protest in Johannesburg to stop discrimination against them, their husbands and children. Mrs Lindelwa Uche, the chairperson of the United Nigerian Wives in South Africa, UNWISA, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria during the launch of the association, Sunday, in Johannesburg. Uche said that South African society did not take their marriage to Nigerians as serious relationships. Some South African women married to Nigerians staged a peaceful protest in Johannesburg. She said: "Our society does not take our marriages serious, they see our marriages as relations of convenience and perceive us as evil to the society. "All of us are South Africans married to Nigerians living in South Africa, we decided to come together to fight against stigmatisation, discrimination, and humiliation, against our families by government departments and agency and the officials of the government, t…

“Kindergarten presidency”.....APC to Jonathan: go to court if you feel libelled

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to go to court if he feels libelled by the description of his presidency as a kindergarten presidency by the Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande. In a statement in Accra yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said Chief Akande merely told the truth by his characterisation of the Jonathan presidency, adding: "Isn't truth a defence to libel?"
It also said there was nothing strange or wrong in criticising a democratically-elected President. "After all, he is neither an imperial president, a monarchy nor an emperor." APC said nothing confirmed Chief Akande's assertion that Jonathan is running a kindergarten presidency than the crude manner it (presidency) responded to the frank but constructive criticism by the APC National Chairman.

Africa's fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare fades out in 100m final

Africa's fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare and Nigeria's only medal hope in the 100m event at the 14th IAAF Championships in Moscow, has failed to re-enact her winning form in the event, bringing back memories of her London Olympics flop.
She came 6th in the final race, won by Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who held nothing back in producing a stunning performance to snatch a second women's world 100m title on Monday. There was a first-ever African medal in the world sprints for Ivorian silver medallist Murielle Ahoure (10.93), while defending champion Carmelita Jeter of the United States took bronze (10.94). Jeter's teammate, English Gardner (10.97) came fourth, with Jamaica's Kerron Stewart fifth in a photo finish,

Nigeria's Berverly makes history as the first housemate to sail through BBA without being Nominated

Love her, hate her, call her a flirt and a talkative... The former video-vixen, now Big brother reality TV show housemate, flying the colours of Nigeria on Monday evening became the first Big Brother housemate to sail through the season without being Nominated.  As the Big Brother show rounds up in a couple of days from now, many will wonder how Beverly managed to go 11 weeks, and 11 different nomination sessions without being nominated. Perhaps the Big Brother housemates see something in the lingerie model that we out cannot see, Through the 11 weeks the 28 Big Brother housemates took turns to eliminate each other by nominating  2 contestants each week and putting them up for possible eviction (The housemates with the highest nominations).
Miraculously Beverly was the only housemate who was never nominated, even the much loved and more reserved Melvin was up for eviction in the 6th week.

19 things every lady should know and how it helped Jenny Chisom

I read this article sometime in 2012 and can't remember who the original author is. Afterwards, I took a cue and particularly learnt to drive. I also learnt how to leave my phlegmatic cocoon and savour some love. It did make a lot of sense to me as a young lady at 32 and I thought to share, it could help you too: Enjoy the read after the cut. Xoxo

Ezparanza think Sex Sells but Hard Work is Better

Esparanza Spalding is a Grammy award winning Jazz musician. She was was born in Portland Oregon on October 18 1984 to an African American father and a Hispanic mother. She graduated with a B.M. from Berkeley College of music in 2005 and went on to become one of the youngest professors in the institution's history at age 20.

Her mother raised her and her brother as a single mom under difficult economic and social circumstances. She recalls that as a child, her mother used to read books like the Little Prince and the biography of abolitionist Frederick Douglas to them. She said that even though her mother was not rich, she never felt poor because she was raised with a lot of love, education, nature, music and arts. She credits her mother for her hard work ethics.

She says she rarely watches TV, tweet or text because she doesn't have the time to do so. In 2011 she won the Grammy fo…
