Creative Enterprise workshop: My participation at Shelter Studios

Just rounding off from a Creative workshop for writers and artists hosted by the Shelter studios of House on the Rock Church Abuja.

It was facilitated by Chidi Ukwu, Roli Ukwu and Chioma Diru.

We watched "This is lagos" a documentary that introduced us to the life of Eric Obuh empathetically as he scavenges for refuse to make money to pursue his music career.

We also saw the introductory scene of the brazillian movie "City of God", all in an attempt to see how to create non-fiction and fictional stories that has an intriquing opening that will leave audience wanting more. This workshop continues next week Saturday and I will bring you details. Enjoy the photos.

PS: I'm trying to get home to finish up the editing of a devotional script I need to deliver to a client by 6pm.
#Catch ya! Enjoy the weekend.

President Goodluck Jonathan warns Nigerians not to address him as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces

This is the way NigerianEye is reporting it:

In what is a clear departure from the norm, the presidency has ordered all government functionaries to desist from addressing President Goodluck Jonathan as the "Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria" at non-military functions.

The directive is contained in a strongly worded October 14 circular, No SGF/OP/1/S.3/X/664, by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim.

The memo, obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, Thursday, was addressed to the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, ministers, heads of ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals, the leadership of the National Assembly, and government-owned companies.

MEETING JENNY CHISOM SERIES: Professionally Part 2

Welcome to Meeting Jenny Chisom: Professionally Part 2. It is a continuation from HERE, if you missed it. Follow me on Blackberry to get updates.

I started my career as a teacher (you see why i'm always lecturing). My first work experience was as a Teacher and Administrator because it was the best and most recommended job by my mum *grinning*.
The school I worked at, Jethro schools, was owned by my mum and I worked there through holidays from school and while on transit from Secondary school into the University. I learnt how important educating children was, especially children from poor backgrounds as my mum didn't spare to give me responsibilities, being a public secondary school teacher herself.
(She was in the habit of admitting children whose parents couldn't pay their fees and I was the 'tyrant' trying to insist they must pay up. Lolz)
I taught nursery and primary school classes and learnt child psychology on the job. This was between 1997 and 2003.
My next me…
