On Saturday 22nd November 2014, the 1st Nigerian DotCom Awards was held at the Protea Hotel, Lekki, with dignitaries from different sectors of the Internet Economy winning awards in over thirty categories.

The award ceremony was organised by American Internet Business School in collaboration with Afrinet Business Solutions. The aim of the event was to honour people and organisations that have distinguished themselves in setting an admirable standard for the Nigeria online market growth; the movers and shakers of the Nigeria dotcom economy.

Dr. Ope Banwo, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Afrinet Business Solutions stated, "We feel that one of the ways to develop internet business in Africa is to start to recognise people who are doing great in internet business. So we organised the first dotcom awards in Africa. The Nigeria dotcom awards."

Different awards were given to the winners of each category. The ceremony was designed to recognise the firms that have made great contributions to the growth of Nigeria in the outgoing choice (voting) category were Linda Ikeji (www.LindaIkeji.blogspot.Com) for BEST ENTERTAINMENT/GOSSIP BLOG, VoguePay ( ) for BEST INTERNET PAYMENT PLATFORM, GTBank (www.Gtbank.Com) for BEST BANK ON THE INTERNET, Jumia (www.Jumia.Com.Ng) for BEST ECOMMERCE WEBSITE, while the Lagos State Government won the award for the BEST USE OF INTERNET BY STATE GOVERNMENT.

VoguePay's Director of Compliance and Marketing, Geoffrey Weli Wosu stated, "This initiative is commendable and we are honored to receive this recognition from Afrinet Business Solutions and American Internet Business School." The Director of Administration and Management for VoguePay, Ojikutu Quam described the award won by the payment processor as a reflection of the Company's dedication to delivering immaculate service to its Merchants; promising that 2015 will be a more exciting year as they prepare to break the barriers of payment processing in Nigeria. "We will bring even greater dimensions to making and receiving payments for goods and services online in Nigeria" he stated.

Quite some fuss has been on about this man in picture MnomboMadyibi who was allegedly hit with a bottle of wine and also suffered attempted suffocation using a red and white teddy bear. But as expected it did not get as much attention like if the switch was fixed (the experience being that of the woman).
We must know that if men keep being treated like non humans, even the violence against women we usually fight for, will only increase astronomically, since after all a woman must live and find her fulfilled being married to a man or at least living and being in relationships with them.
