Shelley Broader, leads the Walmart Team to Lagos Nigeria

Immediately, news that the CEO of Walmart Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada, Shelley Broader  broke yesterday, I knew Nigeria would finally be receiving the Walmart brand fully. Going by the fact that Walmart had acquired a major stake in Massmart Holdings Limited in 2011, having announced that they will be taking over Africa soon, it is not a surprise that they had visited the Nigerian Embassy meeting the Ambassador, Prof. Ade Adefuye same year discussing plans to open two retail stores in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Prof. Ade Adefuye, told the Empowered Newswire on Wednesday that representatives from the famous retail store had visited him at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC as regards the plan to open the retail store in Nigeria.

Lagos governor, Ambode received the CEO and her executives yesterday at Lagos House and committing to make the investors feel welcomed while highlighting that the population of Lagos State is encouraging for the berth of Walmart will provide jobs for Nigerians amongst other things too.

Walmart is said to be in 28 countries wih 2.2 million employees.
Meanwhile, Broader joined Walmart in 2010 and has over 17 years of experience in banking and other fields prior to joining Walmart. She is truly a woman to watch.

Dear CEO, can you see how to create jobs? Partnership with investors will help Nigeria's economy even as we constantly push our own indigenous brands. Let's look out for franchises too. What do you think?
