The Nigerian Child; The Genuis Event in Abuja

In Abuja, the Africa House London and Arete Copious Consulting with several stakeholders convened "The Nigerian Child, The Genius" Conference.

The event was inspired against the backdrop of belief that the Nigerian economy can be diversified through innovation and enterprise thus a critical look at the education sector and mode of delivery is essential especially at the primary and secondary stages of formal schooling.

The speakers provided invaluable insight and offered alliance opportunities to policy makers, school owners, teachers and parents and management of orphanages who were in attendance from across Nigeria and the world.
Focused on the advancement of the Nigerian children who are the main beneficiaries of the event, here are the profiles of some of the speakers and organisers.

Africa House London (
Africa House London is trade agency in the United Kingdom established to encourage direct investment and trade between key markets in Africa and the United Kingdom. It promotes sustainable job creation opportunities, growth and long-term prosperity for Africa and UK businesses. The delegation was led by Mr Emmanuel Finndoro-Obasi, the director of Business, Trade and Investments.

Helen Grant, Member of Parliament – United Kingdom (

Helen Grant is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Maidstone and The Weald since 2010. She was the first black woman to be elected as a Conservative MP, having also been the first black woman to be selected as a candidate to stand for a Conservative-held parliamentary seat. She first served in government as jointly Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Women and Equalities (from 2012 to 2015) and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice (2012 to 2013). She also became Minister for Sport and Tourism in 2013, a post she held until 2015.

He is a renowned education consultant of Nigerian origin and is based in the United Kingdom and the chairman of EIE (Excellence in Education program) and adviser to governments and monarchs. He is keen on contributing to the future of Africa’s greatness through education and talent development instead of mere certification.

Prof Imafidon is the father of five genius children who have all broken records of academic excellence and have been dubbed the smartest family in the United Kingdom of which the oldest, Ann-Marie Imafidon was recently honored by the Queen of England for her academic excellence with an MBE (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).

Prof Imafidon is of Nigerian origin and believes that every child is a genius and can easily achieve what all of his children have achieved if tutored in a particular way. He posits that he has a proven formula that has worked with his children and several other children under the EIE program. He shared insights with educators and parents at the conference that bordered on learning styles, life purpose, family values, the can-do spirit, parenting a child as a teacher and lots more.
